Before we dive into what differentiates both of these, let’s talk about the features which remain consistent among the Huawei duo. Both of them have nearly the same Full HD+ LCD display, although the 7X’s is marginally larger at 5.99-inch than the P20 Lite’s 5.84-inch screen. Both are also powered by the same in-house Huawei Kirin 659 octa-core chipset, 64GB of internal storage which is expandable through a hybrid slot and has 4GB of RAM. However, the 7X does have another variant which comes with 32GB storage. There’s, of course, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor present on both. In addition to that, a face unlock feature is available as well. Furthermore, the software is the same — Android Oreo 8.0 layered by the company’s own EMUI 8.0 (Oreo beta in case of 7X). A few specifications are identical as well, like the Dual-SIM compatibility. Now, that’s out of the way, here are the key differences between the P20 Lite and Honor 7X.

The P20 Lite has a better Selfie Camera

Another common trait among the two phones is the rear camera setup — a f/2.2 16-megapixel primary lens and a secondary 2-megapixel for enabling features like the bokeh mode. For selfies, the P20 Lite comes with a much more capable 24-megapixel lens, while the Honor 7X carries an 8-megapixel snapper.

The Honor 7X has a Bigger Battery

The Honor 7X runs on a slightly bigger 3340mAh battery, whereas the P20 Lite has a 3000mAh pack. However, the latter benefits from fast-charging support, something which is entirely absent on the former. Also, the 7X has to juice up a slightly taller screen.

The Design

One of the headlining features of the P20 Lite is its all-glass design. The Honor 7X, on the contrary, flaunts a more traditional aluminum unibody which while doesn’t look half bad, won’t catch any eyes either. Therefore, it comes down to your personal preferences. If you’re someone who plays a lot of mobile games, for instance, you should opt for the metal build as glass exteriors tend to be relatively more slippery and prone to overheating.

USB Type-C vs MicroUSB

The P20 Lite comes with a USB Type-C port instead of the dated MicroUSB present on the Honor 7X. Both of them do have a standard headphone jack, though. To summarize, the P20 Lite has more in common with the Honor 7X than the things that differentiate them. The push is clearly towards better design and better cameras with the new P20 Lite and Huawei seems to have ensured the P20 Lite doesn’t come anywhere close to the Honor 7X in terms of pricing. Even the Honor 9 Lite comes with a lot of similarities. You can check an earlier article of ours for that. Stay tuned for our detailed comparison in the coming days.
